Montgomery County Literary Arts Council
As a means to bring the most distinguished minds and their bright visions to local citizens, the Montgomery County Literary Arts Council was founded in 1993 by three gentlemen passionate about the literary arts who received funding via grants from Montgomery College, Conroe Commission on the Arts & Culture and the Texas Commission on the Arts. The council has, numbered among its guests, several Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winners as well as national and state Poet Laureates. The council’s all-volunteer board members and staff host approximately eight readings each year and celebrate the birthdays of literary greats Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman.
